 | Upper Peninsula of Michigan Attractions
Built in 1890, the Iron County Courthouse is located Crystal Falls (shown on left) and sits on the hill above Superior Avenue. There is a tower balcony that can allow an individual to see up to 20 miles away on a clear day!
The Harbour House Museum is a "hands-on" museum where many activities take place during the summer season. The Harbour House Museum is open from the first Tuesday in June through the last Saturday in August.
The Iron County Historical Museum is Upper Michigan's largest outdoor museum. Located in Caspian, it includes the Caspian Mine headframe, engine house, historical buildings, and over 75 major exhibits, just to name a few! |
Natural attractions can also be enjoyed in Iron County. There are many gorgeous waterfalls such as Bond Falls, Agate Falls, Horserace Rapids, and Canyon Falls which can provide excellent hiking. The Paint River rises in the west part of Iron County and flows easterly and southeasterly into the Brule River, finally joining the Michigamme River to form the Menominee River. There are 314 lakes and aproximately 900 miles of rivers in Iron County. Enjoy fishing for Walleye, Northern Pike, Bass, Musky, Yellow Perch, Blue Gill and Sunfish, Black Crappie, Bullhead, and Brook Trout. For golf enthusiasts, we invite you to experience the Iron River Country Club, the George Young Golf Course and Recreational Complex and the Crystal View Golf Course.
